Another Weigh-In!

 Fitness on Friday
I was at my families house most of the week. I went to a Weight Watchers meeting where they live at that was just down the street. They did things a whole lot different than my meeting, so that was interesting. I learned that the leader was someone I knew who had grown up with that lived on the street that I lived on as a child. I weighted in at 260 pounds. I lost 2.2 pounds and have now lost a total of 63.8 pounds. So, who knows maybe I will be closer to my goal of losing 100 pounds by the end of this year?!? I enjoyed being at my parents house. They live on a street with sidewalks, very different than where I live! I got up everyday, but one (it was pouring the rain), and went for a 30 minute walk. It felt so good to be walking again and at that time of the morning it also felt really nice out. The exercise really gave me the boost I have needed. I also had plenty of fresh garden veggies. I made a salad everyday(twice I should say!:) and it was so good! I got to bring a whole lot home too! So, I will be eating fresh tomatoes and cucumbers for awhile! :) I came at the perfect time because the tomatoes had just turned red. I know next week I am going to lose another Weight Watchers Point! I guess that's okay though!

This past week was okay. I lost one pound. I still am not exercising like I used to. I got to get some more motivation to start doing that again! Other than that a pretty good week.

Weigh In Time....

 Fitness on Friday

Well, I had my weigh-in on Tuesday and it was not that bad, but not that great either. I weighed in at 263.2 pounds. A gain of .2 :(. I am not going to worry about that and move on. I try to make excuses for weigh ins that I gain because I have only had a gain about 2 times since starting. This is the first time that I have weighed in and it was the first day of my monthly. It is usually the last day. So, maybe that had something to do with it, but I really think that it was the fact that I got NO activity points last week. That means I exercised not one day! I got to better on that this week! I don't know what's wrong with me but I have been feeling SUPER exhausted. I feel so tired ALL the time. I think most of that is from me trying to do too much this summer with the kids and staying up late and watching old seasons of 24 with dh. We are addicted to that show. We try to spend some time after the kids go to bed and watch an episode, but the show is so addictive that it makes you want to watch another and we usually watch at least 2 episodes. So, I know I got to get more sleep too. We checked out the whole season 5 of the show from the library and finished it a week ago and now we are watching season 4. Anyways, I know I got to get in some exercise and go to bed earlier. Other than that, I am following my Weight Watchers program, so hopefully next week I will see better numbers at the scale!

Fitness on Friday Weekly Update and Part of my Story

**If you are looking for WWWEW scroll down!**
Well, I went to my weekly weigh in last night and it was good news for me! I lost 2.8 pounds! That makes a 60.8 pound loss for me this year!!!! I really NEVER thought I could do it. I guess that's why they say, "Never say Never."

I remember when I was a County Extension Agent, we would go to lots of conferences. One in particular stands out to me. I can't remember what it was called but our State Representative was a part of it and her niece went. I remember talking to this woman (the niece)and she was wonderful. She told all of us that she had lost 100 pounds by doing Weight Watchers. Why did I not listen then? I could be so much closer to my goal! I remember wishing I could do what she had done but thinking, it will never happen. I guess I had a bad image in my mind about Weight Watchers and never even considered joining it. I really think people must come to a place where they are ready to make a change. People would talk to me about my weight, but it just made me mad that they said something. I felt kind of lost as to what to do about my weight and them telling me did not really help. I had to have a "moment" where I was ready! I think that is one of the things that has helped me stay focused. I know I need and must do this now! So, if you think you can NEVER do it, you won't! You have to have a change there to, you have to be positive! That is the only way you will get to your goal.

I set a HUGE goal to lose 100 pounds as a New Year's resolution this year. If you follow my blog, you will know that I started because I hurt my finger and had to go to the doctor to get stitches. I learned at that visit that my blood pressure was extremely high! So, I knew I had to do something about my weight problem. It was Christmas time and I knew I would not be successful until the holidays were over, so I waited and ate way too many sweets over the holidays! I remember going to a Christmas party and not being able to sit in the chair, actually I remember not being able to sit in a lot of chairs. Dh has a picture of me at that Christmas party I am talking about and while I hated it then, I am glad I have that picture now. I went back to another doctor before the holidays were over and she recommended Weight Watchers to me. I had never really thought about it as an option before then. I knew I would never be able to join because I had no money. I was so determined to get the weight off that I researched online and started doing what I "thought" was Weight Watchers on my own. I lost 8 pounds my first week and knew this was working for me and what I needed so bad! I also found a LOT of blog friends to help me along the way! That was probably one of the best things I ever did! I lost about 25 pounds and then I felt like I really wanted to go to a Weight Watchers meeting to get the materials. I decided to take some of our income tax money and use it to join Weight Watchers.(Now dh says he will find the money somewhere, he has been working extra because he wants me to succeed.) I felt so lost at that first meeting, but as usual, I did talk. That was probably because I had already been doing WW on my own. I found out that I was not doing the right points, I was way too low, and that there was such a thing as the 8 Healthy Guidelines. I was scared to eat more points, but I still lost weight that week! Now I have lost 60.8 pounds and to reach my goal of 100 pounds by Christmas I need to lose an average of 1.8 pounds a week in the next 22 weeks. I really think I can do it. I know it is a HUGE goal, but I have to stay positive and try. I won't be overly upset if I don't reach it, but 39 pounds seems so much more manageable to me after what I have been through! I have to quit thinking I can NEVER do it and just work to do it! I have to push on!!!

Note: Oh and by the way after that I need to push on some more and lose some more but right now I am only focusing on 100 pounds.

Fitness on Friday

I have been bad on exercise again last week. I guess when you quit for awhile it is harder to get back into the groove? I am doing better this week, but I went from 30 minutes to 15 and maybe I will be able to ease back into it? This week I lost 1.2 pounds. I also got my 10% key chain from Weight Watchers and my 16 week Sassy Charm for going to Weight Watchers for 16 weeks. I have really not made many new recipes this week to share with you. If you have not gotten the chance come back here on Wednesdays for Watchin' What We Eat Wednesday. I have a lot of people posting some really good healthier recipes!

Fitness On Friday

Well its time for another Fitness on Friday hosted by Natalie at Bye Bye Fat Mom! I had a really rough week last week because everyone of my kids got some kind of virus that gave them high fevers and they wanted to be held a lot. I exercised not one day last week (my week is Wednesday-Tuesday). I still ate well though! At my weight in, I lost another 1.6 pounds, I weighed in at 269. That's 54.8 pounds! I only have .6 of a pound to reach another goal of getting my Weight Watcher's 10 percent keychain. (for those who do not know I lost 25 pounds doing WW at home before going to meetings) So, I am really excited about that. The only bad thing is because I have lost another 10 pounds I also lose another WW point. I am at 34 now. I guess this does not bother me as much as I thought it would, I am just so excited to say goodbye to the 270's. I really do not remember when I weight in the 260's in my life? So, things seem to be going well for me right now. I do find myself getting comfortable with the program and sometimes that really is not good because I think you can get too comfortable and bored with the program, that is why I like to try out new recipes every week.
My dh has been losing weight too and really not following the program, well he weighed himself the other day and realized he had gained back a lot of the weight that he had lost. Probably from eating food at work. They have board meetings once a month and have Fried Chicken and the eat on it for a couple days after. Well yesterday he started doing it the right way and asking me questions etc. So, I guess he is really doing it now. That really makes it a lot easier for me!

I also wanted everone to know about my new meme that I started last week. I had a big turnout for the first week of sharing healthy recipes. I'll put more info about that at the bottom of the post if you are interested in participating next week.

I also tried out several new recipes that I will put some links to in case you are interested.

Hope you have a great week!

Please come back and visit me for my new meme Watchin' What We Eat Wednesday next week as we share healthy recipes. The theme next week is Fruits. To see yesterday's recipes from Watchin' What We Eat go here.

Fitness on Friday

Well its time for another Fitness on Friday hosted by Natalie at Bye Bye Fat Mom! I always forget to do it. I think that is because my week starts on Wednesday. Anywhoo. I have been doing really well! I have almost lost 50 pounds, I am so close. But really for me 50 pounds is only the beginning! I have a long way to go! I think that with loss weight, it is the mini goals that get you there when you have so much to lose! For those that do not know me, I have been doing Weight Watchers. I weighed in lat week at 274.6, that was a 1.8 pound loss. My next mini goal was to get under 270 and I am just so close, I can taste it! Last week it rained a lot and I only got to exercise 1 time. I vowed to do better this week. I did not walk at all on Wednesday, but last night I went for a super long walk-2 miles. I need to make sure that I continue doing that this week. I think I see a better number on the scale when I get that exercise in. I started this journey really heavy (323 pounds) and walking was really the only thing I could do. Now I still really like walking but I like to walk at a more brisk pace so I get a really great walk. I go around the track 12 times. I only have 30 minutes to exercise, so I set my timer and walk and each time I get a little farther than before and I can do it. We have this ramp that we go down to get into the park and it is straight down so it really is not something I want to go do after a walk but I can get up it now.

I really have learned so much in 5 months of trying to lose weight that I really believe that I will always be watching what I eat. I just do not know why it took me so long to get where I am today?

Have you every tried to figure out your BMI. Personally, I knew I was morbidly obese so that was not something I really wanted to look at, but it is something I want to know know that I am doing something about it. Here is a website you can go to to figure out your BMI. I encourage you to go see what yours is. My BMI has gone down about 10 points so I have to be doing something for my health, right?

Well a lot of people tell me that they come here to see my recipes and get some motivation. So, I have been playing with the idea for a long time to start a weekly meme where people come once a week and share healthy recipes. I do not have a name for it yet and I really want to learn more about Mr. Linky before I start but I really think I can do this and it is something I WANT to do. I just wonder if anyone else would be interested in sharing there recipes once a week? Would you be interested? I am going to give some more thought about a real creative name this week and then hopefully report back to you next week about some plans for it. Please leave me any feed back you have about this in my comments and thanks for reading.
I will end by linking to some recipes I have reviewed lately and I wish everyone a great week!
Bruschetta Chicken Bake
Chex Party Mix
Cheeze-It Chicken
Southwestern Cheesy Chicken Skillet
Gooey Cinnamon Rolls
Dreamsicle Cake

Fitness on Friday

It's time again for Fitness on Friday hosted by Natalie at Byebye Fat Mom. This has been a hard week for me because I tried so hard to do everything I was suppose to on WW. I thought I did so well and I exercised for 50 minutes a day walking. Then on Tuesday when I went to my meeting I lost .8 of a pound. I was really upset! I like my new lifestyle changes and I am not going to change them I can resist stuff a whole lot better than when I started too. I am kind of feeling discouraged about it for the first time since I started this whole thing. I wrote a whole post on how I feel. I am going to see it through though! I have a HUGE goal, which I break into chunks, but I want to get 100 pounds off and sometimes it feels hopeless, but if I am doing all I can then that is all I can do, right? I will leave you with a recipe that I just posted. Enjoy!

Fitness on Friday #2

Well its time for Fitness on Friday hosted by Natalie at Bye Bye Fat Mom! This past week at my Weight Watchers Meeting, I was one of the few with a loss! I lost 3.6 pounds and got my first 5 point star! I have lost a total of 34.6 pounds now, 8.2 of that since joining Weight Watchers. This week was the first week that I really started to exercise again after having been sick for over 2 weeks and it felt good. I usually do Leslie Sansone walking DVD's and I really like those. My favorite one is the Walk and Kick DVD, it is 30 minutes and earns me 3 activity points! My goal is 18 activity points for this week and so far so good! Easter was not as hard for me as I thought it would be. I ate a Easter dinner of ham, mashed potatoes, corn, and green beans. I also ate about 5 deviled eggs. I love those but had to pay a lot of points for them. Most of my kids Easter candy is gone, but I really was not into the candy anyways. I ate a bite of a rabbit and that got me over my craving for it. Tonight dh and I are going on a date to Applebee's. The have Weight Watcher meals and I want to try them. I am also going to get dessert and it will only be 11 points for dinner! I like to leave you with recipes. I love to cook so here are some links to some recipes I posted this week and here I will leave the recipe we had for dinner! Enjoy!
Better than Spring Lemon Cake-points depends on cake mix 3-4 points?
I also have a Diet Cola Cake recipe there, so enjoy!
~
Last night, we had Mom's Pizza. I found this recipe here, but i have changed it a bit since I last posted it, so here is how I make it. This is so yummy and only 4 points per serving, depending on how you cut your pizza.

Mom's Pizza Adam's Family Style
~
Cheese Pizza
~
1 (13.8-oz) tube of refrigerated Pillsbury classic pizza crust*
1 small 6-oz can tomato paste (Use the flavor of your choice.)
1 packet Italian Spaghetti Sauce Mix (Any brand is fine - I use Great Value Walmart brand)
1 cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese (Or you can use a five-cheese blend like the one from Kraft which includes low-moisture, part-skim mozzarella, provolone, Romano, Asiaso, and Parmesan cheese)
* Alternately, you can use 1 box Pillsbury Hot Roll Mix, 1 package of refrigerated pizza dough, or any other ready-made pizza crust. These are all roughly the same points value, but please note that the Nutritional Info below is based on the refrigerated 13.8-oz tube Pillsbury pizza crust.
~
Preheat oven to 400º. Spray or grease cookie sheet or pizza pan. Unroll dough on greased cookie sheet or pizza pan. Press to desired size, shape and thickness. Set aside.
Place tomato paste, 12-oz of water (use the paste can twice to measure), and sauce mix in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 5-10 minutes, stirring every few minutes with a whisk.
Top dough with pizza sauce, cheese, and desired toppings(add points for those toppings if necessary.) Bake 10-15 minutes.
Here is what I do differently, to me this pizza sauce is way too thick and tasted much better when I added 12 ounces of water instead of 6 ounces as in the original recipe. this is enough sauce for two pizza's which in my house I have to have two. Just add more cheese and other toppings. This is super easy and fast!
Yields: 8 slices
Nutritional Info:
(1/8 of pizza) 202.5 calories, 4.8 g. fat, 0.6 g. fiber (4 points per slice)
(1/6 of pizza) 270 calories, 6.4 g. fat, 0.8 g. fiber (6 points per slice)
(1/4 of pizza) 405 calories, 9.6 g. fat, 1.25 g. fiber (8.5 points per slice)

Fitness on Friday

So, Natalie at Bye Bye Fat Mom is doing a meme on Fridays about our weight loss journey and we can check in for some accountability.
Here is mine for this week:
This week was my first time being sick since I started trying to loss weight in January. I have had a hard time getting back into exercising, cleaning the house or just anything. I am still dragging from this flu. I was told it could last up to three weeks. So, I thought that would really hurt me, but I lost another 4.8 pounds at my Weight Watcher meeting weigh in on Tuesday. So, I still lost. :) I have now lost over 30 pounds! Hot Herbal tea has been one of my passions this week and I drank a lot of it and it made me feel better! I also tried the Peanut Butter Bliss bars from Weight Watchers and they are just like there name says bliss and only 1 point! I also tried a new recipe that I got from Weight Watchers and my kids LOVED it so I will leave you with the recipe.

Pizza Cups
~
1 can reduced-fat biscuit dough
1 1/4 c. pizza sauce
5 oz. reduced-fat mozzarella cheese
1/4 c. onions, chopped
1/4 c. green bell pepper, chopped
20 slices turkey pepperoni
~
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Spray muffin pan with Pam. Flatten biscuits between palms. Pat onto bottom and up sides of muffin pan. Spoon 2 Tbsp. pizza sauce into each cup. Sprinkle onions and green peppers into each cup. Sprinkle the tops with cheese. Bake for 15 minutes or until biscuits are brown and cheese is bubbly.
2 Weight Watcher Points each.
Note: You can add pretty much any pizza topping to these, just make sure you count the points. I make my kids with stuff I know they like. This recipe makes you feel like you are cheating! Really good!
